It doesn't matter what experience you have.

Some of the best models turn out to be absolute beginners with no preconceived ideas about what to do and what not to do. A life (art class) model might not suit the Glamour / Page 3 scene, but might be well at home taking the time to work with the photographer to achieve precisely the right pose.

There again, a fashion model might not be happy taking off her clothes, so there is something for everyone, and everyone has their likes and dislikes, as well as an element of curiousity.

A conservative mature model might suddenly take a liking for nude fine art work, and could well be completely surprised by the result.

The following list is not comprehensive, but does give an idea of the range of opportunities that exist for modelling with Jay. The descriptions cover shots that Jay might require, or equally, shots that you the model, might like to add to your portfolio.

A
Abstract Art
A difficult subject to define accurately. This style is suitable for models of any age and any experience. Be prepared not to recognize yourself once Jay has put your images through the digital darkroom.

Art / Fine Art
One of Jay's specialities. Whether you want to enhance your portfolio, or just have something special to be framed for a loved one, you will be surprised at the result. The term in its context here, is usually an off-beat pose with low key dramatic lighting, but not necessarily nude or semi nude.

B
Body Parts
This term encompasses photography of any part of the body in detail or close-up. It may be for ear-rings or nail polish, a necklace or foot spa. Be warned though - the camera never lies.

Boudoir
This term is a reference to the style of clothing a model might wear while in her 'boudoir'. The style has become synonymous with soft lighting, sexy clothing and soft focus. Suitable for women of all ages, and an ideal gift as an enlargement, montage, or 'special' collection.

C
Casual / Candid
Photographs taken in relaxed and passive surroundings. There are no set poses, Jay captures the model as they set about a typical task. It might be reading a book, drinking a cup of coffee, or as simple as lounging around and reflecting on life, the universe and everything.

E
Erotic
Jay is not a pornographer, he is an artist. But, if you or your portfolio requires something 'harder' than usual, this can be done by special arrangement. Solo or G/G only. Jay will not do B/G

F
Fantasy
Another hard to define style. Fantasy can be as simple as a hired costume (e.g. Elvira, Marilyn Monroe) or it could be a combination of costume and specific background digitally added to an image.

Fashion
An easy one to describe, this can be location shots for a knitwear company, or an actual runway / catwalk shoot at a fashion show. Anything to do with fashion in fact.

Fetish (Tame)
Bondage or implied bondage springs to mind for most of us when the term 'fetish' crops up. Jay will only shoot this kind of work by prior arrangement and STRICT agreement of subject matter and limitations.

Fine Art / Nude
Another specialist area for Jay. There are some good examples of this type of work in the Photography link. The style covers low key, high key, indoors and outdoors shoots. Available light is the preferred source, but good results can also be acheived using pro studio flash.

Fitness
Fitness photography can fall into many categories. Some exciting results can be obtained from a simple leotard shot of a slim athletic model. The same can also be said of aerobics, work-out and athletics. There are many posibilities with this style.

Formal
It sounds stuffy and boring but many company reports would be destined for the bin if it were not for the cliched shots of key staff in front of a library of books they will never ever read. Boring stuff, but Jay puts the same enthusiasm into this as any of the other styles.

G
Glamour / Page 3
So easy to define, and yet so diverse. Until the 1970's it was unheard of for a UK newspaper to show bare breasts to its readers on a daily basis. The Sun started it and the others took it up. Some on page 3 as the Sun pioneered, and others preferring the centre pages. Now the 'Page 3 Girl' is in colour and often nude (but tastefully). All manner of other forms of glamour shots exist. Most are topless, some are also bottomless, but almost always, glamour is tasteful. A wide subject with many different variations to choose from.

L
Lingerie
The broad subject of lingerie covers undergarments for leisure, pleasure and necessity. The photography of lingerie can be very seductive, or it can be practical. It depends on the required end result. It may be for a catalogue such as Ann Summers, or it could be part of a boudoir shoot for a private client. The mood and message can be as varied as the garments themselves.

N
Nude / Fine Art
This is Jay's 'piece de resistance' - the ace in the pack. Although he has not specialised in this style for long, he has already gained recognition in Scotland for his work, and also received accolades from as far south as Plymouth, and overseas to the USA. Shooting mostly with available light, (a rare commodity in the NE of Scotland) Jay presents an evocative style with soft lighting and careful posing. Truly, the human body as a landscape.

P
Portfolio Help
Jay is willing to help any models who pose for him. This can be directly by providing prints and digital files from a session, or by shooting additional material to suit any shortfall in the models portfolio. For every hour spent working for him, Jay will spend an hour working to the models requirements. In this way both parties stand to gain a little extra from their commitment of time to each other. Additionaly, Flash or .GIF animation can be created to enhance any models web space or advertising campaign, regardless of whether they modelled for Jay or not.

Additionaly, it is his intention to showcase models he has worked with (if they agree) to further promote their work.

Pregnant
Many unusual photographs can be gained from a pregnant model, or in fact any woman willing to pose. The clothed shots can be very effective, but the nude shoot is extra special. IT is very unusual to see a nude woman in the full glow of pregnancy. It is a very special time, and for some women a one-off occasion, so it is worth capturing in any style.

Prints For Time & Time For Prints
Mainly performed by new or aspiring models, TFP as it should be known is an agreement between model and photographer where the photographer provides the model with prints and / or digital files, in return for posing time. Jays approach is slightly different. See Portfolio Help for more information.

Semi-Nude
Just as the term suggests, semi-nude means semi clothed or semi-bare, whichever way you look at it. Somtimes totally nudity can be implied even though the model is not actually naked. The use of material and props can make a mediocre shot into a good one. Not every model is happy to do semi-nude or even implied nudity. Jay respects that, and will work to whatever level the model is prepared to work to.

Sheer / See-Thru
More suggestive than provocative, this style can result in some stunning photographs which will be an asset to any models portfolio. Again, Jay's respect for the model's level of commitment is paramount.

Swimwear
Usually shot for catalogue specific work, swimwear shots can be another asset for models looking for catalogue work. Unfortunately the weather in Jay's area is only good enough for this style about 3 days out of 365, but good results can still be acheived the rest of the year. This would cover bikini and one piece work.

Jay made me feel so comfortable, I really wasn't embarrassed at all - and I used to be a very shy person.
